RECD Government HOW JUN 02
Hongkong, 8th May, 1902.
142
With reference to paragraph 6 of your Despatch No. 408 of the 6th December last, I have the honour to inform you that I have caused enquiries to be made from which it appears that the establishment of a Government School for European Children will not enable the Military Authorities to dispense with the existing Military School.
2. I attach a copy of a Report on this subject drawn up by the Secretary of the Education Committee after a conference with the Military Inspector of Schools showing how an amalgamated school for the children of British soldiers and civilians is impracticable and I concur in the views therein expressed.
I have the honour to be, Sir, Your most obedient Humble servant,
My Gassique
Major-General, Administering the Government.
